The project comprises the redevelopment of a complex of Grade II listed buildings and construction of a contemporary new 15 storey tower. The premium student accommodation scheme will include a mix of studios, duplex apartments and one, two and three bedroom apartments with communal spaces including a gym, cinema, library, games and work rooms, laundry facilities and a garden terrace on the third floor.

TARKA is a fresh new disruptive brand that will revolutionise hostels and will create a whole new category of accommodation in the UK.

The capsule concept is already well established and successful in Japan and other parts of Asia. TARKA will create an upscale quieter version of a capsule hotel that will appeal to a more diverse range of people than a straightforward hostel.

Darren has over 30 years of building services experience, the last 20 years in the capacity of Director for 3 design and build contractors. Darren has held the positions of Operations Director and Managing Director in that period. He has extensive experience in building and running successful businesses. Darren has directly overseen the successful design and construction of several student accommodation, large hotel and commercial projects across the UK.

Set in the heart of St James's, in an extremely sensitive residential area, the project comprises the demolition of four separate commercial buildings, two of which involved retained façades, the formation of a large basement and the creation of 24 luxury apartments, including a roof-top penthouse behind a new structure with an appearance in keeping with the historic environment it is set. An affordable element and a car-stacker car park were also part of the project.
